The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) of Ontario and the Association of Canadian Distillers (ACD) announced that as of May 5, 1999, a new graphic licence plate illustrating a new Don't Drink and Drive symbol was available in Ontario.

Since the introduction of graphic plates in October of 1994, over 40,000 sets of plates have been sold. This new Don't Drink and Drive logo joins over 30 other graphic options available to Ontario drivers.

Regular series licence plates with graphics sell for $52.50. Those already owning a personalized plate can add this new graphic for $52.50. The cost to first time buyers of a personalized plate with a graphic is $175.
